Harp For Music Educators
Got Harp?
- Harp is a theory tool in the general music classroom — it shows major and minor scales, intervals, the principal of octaves, triads and inversions — using sight and touch at the same time.
- Harp can add color and interest to group or solo singing: glissandos, chords, ostinatos, and harmonics on the harp may accompany or add value to accompaniment (guitar, recorder, autoharp).
Using the harp to illustrate basic theory or for accompaniment does not require a great deal of technique — you will learn basic harp technique, quickly add it to your teaching repertoire, and share it with your students.
Learning Simple Tunes on Harp
- can be a wonderful achievement for Special Needs students; it provides visual, tactile, and auditory learning all at the same time;
- the actual pieces and simple accompaniments will depend on the individual(s) and the time available for their project.
I provide online instruction after an initial free consultation/demo. You tell me how you would like to use the harp in your professional work, and then we can vision a plan. Beyond very basic harp technique, your project will have its own schedule and goals in adding harp in your practice.
For Music Educators, I charge forty dollars for an hour session, payable through PayPal or through your school’s accounting setup.
Don’t actually have a harp?
I can provide a two and a half octave harp for $250.
